Argenta, a little distance from Bologna, Ferrara and Ravenna, towns rich of art and history, is also near to the Valli di Campotto natural oasis, ant to the Comacchio lagoon. Much of the Comacchio lagoon is today a wildlife sanctuary and Argenta is home of the Marsh Museum which offers many facilities for bird study.

WHAT TO SEE:

Argenta was founded by the Romans. Predominantly a flat agricultural region near, and was at times on the edge of, the Comacchio lagoon wetlands. A site of several battles over the centuries, the last being in April 1945 when the area was defended by the Germans against the Allied advance.
