Resources in State archives in AbruzzoIn Abruzzo there are four central archives, in the province capital, and sections at Lanciano, Sulmona, Avezzano.
The four province archives host also the civil records of all municipalities in the region (over 300): L'Aquila 1809-1865, Teramo 1809-1910, Chieti 1809-1900, Pescara 1809-1928. The section offices mostly host notary archives and court proceedings.
In their websites archives offer lists of resources available (the "Patrimonio Documentario"), opening times, contact information and rules for research. A growing database of indexes coming from research for Abruzzo is available on line HERE. With details of documents, it is possible to write to the State archives in Italy and request full copies, or order the right microfilm (if available) from the LDS family centers.
