The Abruzzo region is situated in the center east of the Italian peninsula, with a hinterland mostly of high mountains, reaching almost 10,000 ft with the Corno Grande of the Gran Sasso group, and over 150 miles of fine sandy coastline. A low populated region, it can offer mountain landscapes and natural parks, medieval towns and Roman ruins, as well as good road connections to Rome and the North and South of the Adriatic coast.
