This large province includes many centers with medieval castles, as Spilimbergo, the town of mosaics, Sacile and Valvasone. The territory rises towards the high mountain tops of the Alpine chains, from where on clear days the sight embraces the blue Adriatic Sea in the distance. Fine lakes, as the emerald green Barcis, or the lakes of Val Tramontina, where canoeing, kayak, sailing and windsurf can be practised.

The unique green Karst grottos of Pradis and the natural parks of Dolomites included between the Tagliamento and Piave rivers, and of the Prealpi Giulie are other great features of the province.
