| HISTORY: This octagonal fortress rises on one of the highest hills in Western Murgia, south of Andria. The castle is mentioned in a letter of Emperor Frederick II in 1240, so it existed already at that time. Originally designed as a mansion, since there are no defense structures as a bridge, a ditch or underground rooms, the castle, almost in ruins, was purchased by the Italian State in 1876 and underwent a number of restorations that brought it back to its original beauty. |
