Province of Frosinone, Lazio (Latium) Region, Italy

The capital of its province - also known as Ciociaria - was historically part of the Southern province of Terra di Lavoro in Campania, then moved to the Lazio region in the 1920's. The territory of the commune includes the basin of the Sacco river, flowing below the hill where ancient Frosinone was built. A minor center until the 1960's, Frosinone underwent a remarkable urban development following the opening of the Autostrada del Sole which connects it ro Rome, 50 miles to the north, and has now becoem the center of an industrial area with many medium and small-sized manufacturing industries.

The Museo Archeologico Comunale di Frosinone, established in 1972 in an ancient palace of the historical center, with items from the prehistoric to the Roman Age. A short distance from the Museum, other historical monuments are the Roman amphitheater, the Ponte della Fontana, the Tomba Sant'Angelo and the Belltower of Santa Maria.
