History: The town was founded by the Saracens in the 9th century. In the Second World War almost eight thousand American soldiers who died in the battle following the Allied landing at Nettuno and the neighbouring city of Anzio.

What to see:

  • The church has a popular shrine to Mary, with a mediaeval English style Madonna and Child statue, that is believed to be the popular mediaeval English statue Our Lady of Ipswich. It is widely called "the English Lady".
