HISTORY: A first settlement rose in 1140, when the subjects of the Counts of Gualdrama and Montirone escaped from servitude and took refuge on Mount Tiziano, where they founded a "free" village, from which the name Francavilla derives. In 1385 it was occupied by condottiere Averardo della Campana and was redeemed by the town of Fermo, that paid a rensom of 3,000 ducati. After the unity of Italy, to distinguish the number of different Francavillas present in the country, the suffix d'Ete was added, from the enarby stream called Ete Morto.
