In a privileged position protected by the Colleluce mountain, the commune occupies an area of valley and hills cultivated with olive trees and vineyards, producing a special quality of black grapes from which the Vernaccia di Serrapetrona is obtained, a renowned DOCG wine.

HISTORY:
The town rose in the early century of the Middle Ages, probably as a Languebard settlement, as suggested also by the name "serra", a Germanic word used for fortifications, then in the late Middle Ages became a free Commune.

WHAT TO SEE:

the church of San Francesco, with a huge 15th-century Polyptich, a masterpiece by Lorenzo D'Alessandro of San Severino, representing the birth and death of Christ. The Polyptich, which is 290 cm wide and 465 cm in height, can be dated between 1485 and 1490 and consists of 26 scenes separated by thin columns.
in the Church of San Lorenzo, a Crucifixion by Giovanni Angelo di Antonio.
the ancient Fonte delle Conce, which pours healthy oligo-mineral waters;
in the renovated Castle, the ethnografic Museo dell'Uomo, a collection of tools and environments of the peasant tradition.
