Rotello, Province Campobasso, Molise, Italy

Founded by the Normans in the middle 12th century as Loritello, was for a long time one of the most important county of Molise, thanks to its strategic position between the Fortore and Trigno rivers. In the Angevin period the fiefdom was given to the D'Alemagna family, who were followed by the Sanframondo in the 14th century and the Boccapianola in the 15th, who kept Rotello until 1792, when it was included in the royal lands.
