Forlė del Sannio, Province Isernia, Molise, Italy

The settlement most probably dates back to the Samnite period, though the earliest historical information appears under the Normans, when Forlì belonged to the monastery of San Vincenzo al Volturno, to pass later to the lordship of the Borrello family. Called "Forulum", it was then given by the Anjou to Ugone Brancia in 1269. In the early 14th century it was under the Cornay family, related to the powerful Carafa, who were also the last feudal lords of the place.
