Pesche, Province Isernia, Molise, Italy
This little town is built alongside a steep mountain, with the houses following the terrain, which gives the center a very peculiar look, with extremely steep alleys and stairways, arches connecting the houses of massive walls. The first historical mention is in 1088 when the castle of Monte Pesclaturo was donated by count Rudolph of Boiano to the Counts of Isernia. Until the 15th century Pesche was under the jurisdiction of Montecassino. In the 12th century its lord was Guglielmo De Pesclo, then it passed to the Spinellifamily and finally to the Ceva Grimaldi who were also the last feudal lords.
