The Locality: The town already existed in Roman times, about 25 km North West of Turin, in the Valley of the Stura di Laura river, though the historical center dates back to medieval times.

WHAT TO SEE:
The Cathedral of San Giovanni Battista, originally in the Romanesque church, but renovated in more recent times. In the central apse there is an important polyptich (a multi-panel painting) dated 1535 by Giuseppe Giovenone the Elder, representing Jesus Baptism with Saints, and on the left altar a statue by Defendente Ferrari representing the Madonna del Popolo.

About half a mile from the town, the chapel of Santa Maria of Spinerano, an 11th century church with beautiful 15th century frescoes inside by Domenico della Marca from Ancona.
