The Locality: The small town is situated in the eastern Canavese area, bordering the province of Vercelli, and includes a beautiful natural lake of glacial origin, protected as a natural reservoir by the EU. The area offers beautiful trekking and biking excursions into the countryside. The economy is based on agriculture, and especially renowned for their taste and aromatic scent are the peaches of Maglione, and a peach festival is held in late July.

HISTORY: The town existed in the 10th century AD as Castro Malione, when it was donated by emperor Otto III to the bishop of Vercelli. In 1208 it became a fiefdom of the Counts of Masino, who passed their rights in 1444 to Jacopo Valperga, who took the title of Count of Masino, and stayed in the possession of the Valperga family, under the control of the Savoy dukedom, until this family became extinct in the 18th century.
In 1928 Maglione lost its independence and became a frazione of Borgomasino, but in 1947 the commune was re-established.

WHAT TO SEE:
The Macam - Museum of Contemporary Art, established by film director Maurizio Corgnati, native of the place. The uniqueness of the museum is that works are exibited in the streets of the town, in squares and special areas, where often it is also possible to see the artists at work.
