Ths very small commune in the Val di Susa, near two small lakes belongs to the territory called Comunità Montana Alta Val di Susa, which includes also Bardonecchia, Cesana Torinese, Chiomonte, Claviere, Exilles , Giaglione, Gravere, Meana di Susa, Moncenisio, Oulx, Salbertrand, Sauze d'Oulx, Sauze di Cesana and Sestriere. Its old name was Ferrera, and is a few kilometres from the Vanoise park, near the French border.
With fewer than 50 residents, it is the least populated commune in Piedmont and one of the smallest in Italy; the center consists of a few houses near the Cenischia stream and the parish church, with typical fountains and sundials. It is a great starting point for nature trails and hiking, for lake fishing, and many winter sports. |
