The Locality: The small town is situated at the edge of the Val Germanasca, in a large valley crossed by the Envie river. It's a very interesting alpine village, with great natural sites and good tourist facilities.

Prali is a ski resort for cross country skiing and downhill skiing with an abundance of different tracks. In summer time it is possible to go walking and trekking in the Valley of the Mines and in the conca of the Thirteen Lakes, famous for its crystalline waters.

HISTORY: This village was called Praly until 1937, from the dialect word "pral" (meadows), because of its green fields. Its history is strictly related to the Waldese people that lived around this aerea and that left many traces of their culture. This area was also very important for talc mines of Sapatlé, Envie, Malzas, some of which are presently open to visitors.

WHAT TO SEE:
  • Museo di Prali e della Val Germanasca ,in an old Waldensian temple built in 1556, dedicated to the history of the Germanasca Valley from prehistorical times to the present day, includes religious exhibits as well as domestic and agricultural tools.

  • Museo di Rodoretto , in the old Beckwith school of Villa di Rodoretto, houses reconstructions of domestic locals, and items documenting the mountain life and mining and agricultural activities.
  • The Talc mines of the Vallone di Maniglia, an itinerary covering a few mile from the hamlet of Perrero.
  • The Envie mining area a beautiful route into the mine, through larch forests, offering an insight into the old tools and methods of talc mining.

  • Prali was one of the Official Olympic training sites for Turin 2006 Winter Olympic Games.
