Locality

Conversano is an ancient town 30 km (19 mi) SE of Bari, 7 km (4 mi) from the Adriatic coast. Conversano breeds black horses with Arab blood, strong ram-like heads, short backs, broad hocks, that are in turn used to breed Lippizan horses (Lipizzaner). The local handball team won the national league in the 2002-03 season.
