Province of TrapaniRegion Sicilia (Sicily), ItalyThe Province of Trapani has a surface area of 3041 square km, with a total population of about 470,000 inhabitants. It is administratively divided into 24 Municipalities. Besides the capital Trapani, other cities and places of interest in the province include Segesta, Gibellina, Erice, Alcamo, Marsala, Mazara del Vallo, Castellammare del Golfo, and Mozia. The nearby island of Pantelleria, and the Aegadian Islands (where the town of Favignana is situated) are also included in the province. The province of Trapani alone produces more wine than the entire regions of Tuscany or Piedmont or such nations as Hungary, Austria or Chile.
