Abetone Province of Pistoia, Toscana (Tuscany) Region, Italy Abetone was founded only in recent times between 1766 and 1779, when the road between Tuscany and the territory of Modena was built, and was at first only a resting place for the travelers on their way. The name was given because of the presence of a huge fir tree, with a circumference that six men together were not able to cover. The place is today a summer and winter resort, and is also known as the birthplace or skier Zeno Colò.
